HELP! CANCER ABOUT TO KILL 13 YEAR OLD JOSHUA
Joshua Okunade like every young boy loved to play football, aspired to be like Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7) . Sadly, Joshua lost his mum in 2014 to the cold hands of death, left with his sibling and dad. Sometime in June, 2014, Joshua returned home from school just like any other day, at about 7pm, he complained of severe pain around the neck area, within a few minutes, he collapsed, every attempt made to revive him was unsuccessful, he was rushed to the hospital where the doctors were able to stabilize him after some medications. About 6 months later, his neck area began to swell with intense pain. The assumption was that his sleeping position was the problem.
By 2016, it became so unbearable; the family was advised to
see a consultant at the University Teaching hospital. On 17th of April 2016, Joshua
was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma (cancer of the lymphatic system), that
marked a turning point in the lives of the Okunade family. The family has spent
all they have to pay the medical bills of Joshua, virtually every household item has been put up for sale including Joshua’s play station.
At the moment, a detailed test has been carried and he would
require about 850,000 Naira, part of this has been raised, he currently needs 600,000 Naira, which is about $1669 to carry out chemotherapy,
blood transfusion and other things that would ensure he becomes okay.
The consultants and all loved ones are confident that Joshua
will successfully beat cancer, indeed, he has been through a lot of tough
times, the better part of his childhood is spent visiting one hospital to the
other. Other kids avoid him because of
the huge lumps around his neck area; Joshua wants to be fine again.
With your contribution we can help Joshua get out of that sick bed and become normal
again, no amount is considered too small. Joshua has promised to send a thank
you email to every donor that contributes to helping him get well and stay
alive.
While walking out of Joshua’s hospital room, he asked a
question that made tears flow through my eyes, “Sir, will people out there
really help me beat this cancer to become a normal kid again”? I promised to
try everything I could.
