Please Help Me Stand Again – A Father’s Plea for Spinal Treatment

My name is Abi David, and I’m writing this from a place of deep pain, but also with hope. I’m a husband and a father to two beautiful daughters, my eldest is just six years old. They are my world, and right now, I am fighting to simply be the father they need.

Earlier this year, I received a diagnosis that changed everything: a severe lumbar disc bulge and spinal stenosis, confirmed through MRI scans. The pain is constant. I feel it in my back, down my legs, and in my bones. I can no longer walk or stand without discomfort. Even sitting brings sharp, radiating pain. My legs often go numb. Simple things like tying my shoes or lifting my little girl have become agonizing.

The doctors say that if I don’t get specialized non-surgical treatment soon, the damage could become permanent. I may lose the ability to walk. That terrifies me not just because of the pain, but because I still want to run after my children, provide for my family, and live without being trapped in my body.

Surgery isn’t the first step, thankfully. But I urgently need targeted physiotherapy, traction therapy, and ongoing rehabilitation to reverse this and avoid complications. The total cost for the full treatment plan is ₦4,000,000 a figure that is simply too much for my family and I to manage alone.

We live in Lugbe, Abuja. My wife has been my rock, supporting me emotionally and doing everything she can. But with the rising cost of living, we are already struggling to meet daily needs, let alone cover hospital bills.

So today, with all humility, I’m asking for your help. I’m not just fighting for myself, I’m fighting to stay present in my daughters’ lives. They still believe their daddy is a superhero. I just want to prove them right… to heal, to walk again, and to hold them without pain.
