Daniel is just 10 years old, but he has spent most of the last two years battling for survival. He first fell seriously ill at the age of 8, and since then, his journey has been one of hospital visits, painful treatments, and unimaginable strength for a child his age.

In November 2023, after visiting multiple hospitals, Daniel was finally diagnosed at UCH Ibadan with a serious condition called infective endocarditis, an infection in the heart that caused two large vegetations (abnormal growths) measuring 16 mm and 10 mm. He was immediately admitted and placed on very strong antibiotics, Meropenem and Vancomycin, costing the family about ₦30,000 per day.

After 6 weeks of intensive treatment, the vegetations reduced in size, and he was discharged. However, doctors warned that heart surgery would be necessary; the infection had caused lasting damage that couldn’t be left untreated.

Six months later, Daniel fell sick again. He was readmitted, this time referred to OAU Teaching Hospital in Ife, where he underwent another 6 weeks of treatment, again costing about ₦20,000 per day for medication alone. Thankfully, the vegetations have now cleared, but further tests revealed the underlying issue: a hole in his heart that requires urgent corrective surgery.

The cost of this life-saving heart surgery is currently ₦6.7 million.

Daniel has now been discharged and takes medication every morning and evening. But the doctors have been clear: we must not delay this surgery, or the infection could return and become even more dangerous.

I have done everything possible. But now, we’re humbly asking for help from kind-hearted individuals, organizations, and anyone who believes every child deserves a chance to live a full and healthy life.

Please, help give Daniel that chance.

No amount is too small; your support can truly make the difference between life and loss.

May God bless you for your compassion.
